We've ordered a 2008 smart fortwo car!
While visiting Europe, we kept running across a very nice looking small car - the "smart" car, made by Mercedes. There have been rumors for the last 5 years that Mercedes would bring the car to the United States. It is already available in Canada. Well, the 2008 model is being imported. Should be available in the first quarter of 2008. Models start at under $12,000. It is slated to get 40+ miles per gallon and has some great safety features. You can get more information on the smart fortwo at www.smartusa.com. You can learn more about our fortwo at our blog - www.blogfortwo.com.

An exciting Roman holiday
We have recently returned from a week in Rome. Our first evening in Rome, Pope John Paul II passed away. Claire and Katie waited 7 hours to view the Pope's body laying in wake. We managed to do lots of sightseeing (and walking) despite the activities surrounding this momentous event. Check out our new Photo Albums - Rome - 2005 and John Paul II Memorium
Cosmos 1 Solar Sail - launch failure
Andy was fortunate to work at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the late 70's and early 80's. He contributed to real-time imaging software for the Voyager I and II spacecraft. We have been members of The Planetary Society since its inception in 1980. The Planetary Society, in conjunction with Cosmos Studios, a legacy of Carl Sagan's, has privately funded the Cosmos 1 Solar Sail project. After many delays, Cosmos 1 was launched on June 21, 2005 - by a submerged Russian submarine! Unfortunately, the booster failed to fire correctly and the craft was lost. We hope you will be moved to join the society and support future space exploration projects.
