phpWebSite - a complete website content management system

phpWebSite provides a complete web site content management system. Web-based administration allows for easy maintenance of interactive, community-driven web sites. Originally created by the Web Technology Group at Appalachian State University, phpWebSite is currently developed by a network of developers from around the world. phpWebSite is free, open source software and is licensed under the GNU GPL and GNU LGPL.

Our family website is built on phpWebSite (version 0.9.3-4 Stable + patches) and Andy is an active member of its developer community. He has written "photobox", a Random Photo Display module. He has also co-authored "googlesvcs", a Google Services module that allows web or local search - and site page language translation. These modules are used on this site and are freely available.

phpWebSite includes a very powerful photoalbum module that is used extensively on this site. In order to make it easier to manage our photos, Andy has added a few features. You can find his photoalbum hacks, here.

Andy also created a phpWebSite module, AlbumView, that enables the user to view and scroll thumbnails AND see the selected photo. It uses a combination of PHP and JavaScript to provide a view that does not require scrolling to view photos or to find wandering navigation buttons. More information can be found here.

NEW: BannerBox is now available for testing. BannerBox is a simple phpWebSite module that enables the display of random banners - either in a page's header or footer - or - in a block inside the content. If interested, please go to the BannerBox page.
